Before you start

Signing up takes about ten minutes. Have these ready:

  • Photo ID — a driver licence (both sides) or passport (photo page)
  • Access to your email and your mobile
  • The address or ICP of each property — one signup can cover up to 10
  • Your latest power bill as a PDF — it helps us switch you faster

What happens next

  1. 1Verify your email with a six-digit code
  2. 2Find your property on the electricity registry
  3. 3Answer a few questions and sign the terms and bond agreement
  4. 4Upload your photo ID, then review and submit

After you submit, we run the credit check you approve and manage the switch from your current retailer — you don't need to contact them.

About your plan

These are the only charges Ecosmart adds — everything else on your bill, charges and credits alike, is passed on and not marked up. Which plan you're on depends on your property's Low User or Standard User classification:

Ecosmart's charges

Low User

Under 600 units / month
4cper imported unit

4.6c incl GST

No fixed charge

Standard User

Over 600 units / month
2cper imported unit

2.3c incl GST

50c per day fixed charge

All other charges and credits are passed straight through. Imported power is charged at the wholesale spot price, and power you export is credited at that spot price. Your network's charges — and any network credits — pass through at cost; metering (43c/day) and levies (0.25c/unit) are billed as fixed estimates. All prices exclude GST unless stated otherwise.

Worked examples and FAQs are on our electricity plans page.

Every residential property is classed as Low User or Standard User. That setting is set by your network company, not by us — but once you've switched, if you'd like to change it we can send the request to your network on your behalf.

No fixed term, no exit fees

Leave whenever you like — we won't tie you in.

Heads-up: Low User plans are ending

Low User pricing is being phased out across the industry and ends on 1 April 2027.
